Help with the app and the website

Get in touch

Email hello@dhammafriends.com with a question, a problem or an idea. Miles reads every message and usually replies within a few days. If something isn’t working, it helps to say what you were doing and which phone or browser you were using.

Signing in

You can sign in with your email (we send you a code, so there’s no password to remember), with Apple or with Google. Sign in the same way each time: each way can make a separate account, so a different one may not show your sits and groups. If the code doesn’t arrive, check your junk folder, then ask for a new one.

Finding sits near you

Nearby shows sits within a few kilometres of you. If you’d rather not share your location, or want to look somewhere else, tap the filters button beside Near you and choose a suburb under Where. You can also change the distance and filter by practice, guidance and length there.

The sitting bell

On a sit you’re going to, tap Sit with a bell for a timer that rings at the start and the end. To hear it with the phone locked, allow alarms (on newer iPhones) or notifications when the app asks. Alarms ring even on silent; notifications follow silent mode and Focus. You can turn these on later in your phone’s Settings, under Dhamma Friends.

Notifications

Choose what you hear about in the app: You, then Notification preferences. To stop them all, turn notifications off for Dhamma Friends in your phone’s Settings.

Safety, reporting and blocking

Sits are in person, so meet in public places and trust your judgement. If someone makes you uncomfortable, open their profile and tap Report or Block. Reports come to Miles, who reviews each one. Blocking hides their sits from you, and yours from them. For anything urgent or dangerous, contact the local emergency services first.

Deleting your account

In the app, go to You and tap Delete account at the bottom. It shows what will go before you confirm, and it can’t be undone. You can also email hello@dhammafriends.com and we’ll delete it for you. The privacy policy explains what we keep and why.
